Rising star Eve Buckley has released a brand new single titled 'Out of the Light' ahead of her April 9 Whelan's Upstairs gig.
Eve Buckley, a promising new talent who's been invited to perform on stage with renowned artists such as Mary Black and Mary Coughlan has today released her debut single 'Out of the Light'.
'Out of the Light' is a stunning and vulnerable first offering which the artist says is "probably my most personal song that I have written".
Speaking about the subject matter the Dublin based artist says:"Basically it was the first song I ever wrote. I wrote it a few years ago now when I was about 19.
In my later teens I suffered a lot with anxiety and depression. So the song is about me coming out of that and all the emotions that I had during that really hard time".
The songwriter reflects: "It’s kind of me just processing that and I have kind of put it all into the song really".

Featuring Buckley on keys with her emotional vocals, it's a remarkably crafted debut and builds into a specular cathartic crescendo. It's a bold way for the artist to introduce herself to the world.
"I was a bit sceptical about it but my mum was like “that should be the single!” she explains.
Continuing, Buckley says "I thought, ‘Oh I’m not sure, it makes me feel really vulnerable putting that out’. But I think that’s also a good thing as well. A lot of people can relate to it- even when I am singing it now I get a bit overwhelmed because it takes me back".
"Mental health is such an important thing. Especially in young adults. I feel like there’s a lot of pressure just knowing what your future is. This song really helped me process the realisation that I don't have to know everything and that a lot of the pressure was coming from me".
Along with today's release, Buckley also has a gig lined up at Whelan's upstairs, along with fellow emerging artists Taylor Nose, Lisa McGrath, and All Thumbs on April 9.
Tickets for the show are priced at €11 online from Whelan's website here.
