The 23 year old Irish songwriter has premiered his new video 'James Dean' with Hot Press.
Stating that an obsession with words and melody took hold of him at a young age, David cites
the writings of Behan, Yeats and Wilde, coupled with the soundtracks of Dylan, Buckley and The Dubliners, as being illuminating and influential in his formative years.
Inspired by the storytelling and character creations of his grandfather, he took the boat over the water and gathered tales and tunes of his own, learning his craft and expressing his love of language.
Having been asked to play alongside the likes of Mick Flannery, Hothouse Flowers,Damien Dempsey and Glen Hansard, as well as doing a powerful cover of Cohen's 'So Long Marianne', David is fast becoming one of Ireland’s most talked about young artists.
There's a very clear Van Morrison-esque bite to Keenan's singing in 'James Dean', as well as an introduction to his impressive vocal range and an exemplification of his storytelling abilities.
David is currently recording his debut album with legendary producer John Reynolds in London. He play at the Body & Soul tent and the Jerry Fish stage at Electric Picnic.
