Irish musician Hally was informed last night that his latest music video has been banned by the social media giants because there's "too much human nakedness" on display in it!
"This week's video was banned from Facebook for showing too much human nakedness. YouTube and Vimeo are very happy to show boobs, willies and ass," Hally exclusively reveals to HotPress.com.
Hally has undertaken the hugely ambitious project to release a song with an accompanying music video every week for an entire year. But Facebook immediately objected to the latest video for his song 'White'.
"Facebook took it down minutes after the video post was scheduled to go live at 8pm last night," he tells us. "I then contacted them and spoke to a lady in Dublin who informed me I had breached the Facebook community rules."
He adds philosophically, "But I'd like to add that Facebook is an amazing platform for independent artists like myself. The Community Standards can feel a little like censorship but you can't have everything."
Hally says that the new song banned by Facebook was inspired by his own long-running battles with drugs and the demon drink. "'White' is about aspects of my experience with addiction," Hally reveals. "The video pertains to the degradation and the sickness of the disease: the bodies of the addicts and their relationship with other objects and subjects. There are elements of disinhibition and neglect."
Hally, who is from Dublin, has thankfully been clean and sober for 13 years now. "I used cocaine for long periods and various other 'class A' stimulants. I used heroin to initially cushion the fall from ecstasy and it soon took over my life," he candidly states. "I got clean for the most part from 'class A' drugs in my mid-to-late- twenties, but then just drank myself into oblivion..."
