In the follow-up to their compelling debut, 'Maybe', the Irish indie-rockers sift through love, loss and the fallout of a relationship. Check it out below.
Irish indie-rock duo Fake Friends - Cathal Flaherty and Patrick Kelly - are back with an irresistible sophomore offering. 'Girlfriend' is an infectiously catchy, upbeat banger that explores a breakup from a female perspective, touching on love, loss in a dwindling relationship.
"The chorus came to me quickly, but I struggled with the verses," Flaherty explains. "I finally finished it during a rough patch in my relationship, which inspired the song."
The lads chipped away at the single, fleshing out three versions of 'Girlfriend' before settling on the final mix. The track features Benjamin Loose (Republic of Loose) on bass and Luke Tai on drums, with additional guitar chops and backing vocals from Larry Hogan.
Girlfriend comes off the back of the band's first single ‘Maybe,’ a captivating debut which has been playlisted across stations all over Ireland and the UK.
