Dublin club swaps with Buenos Aires for one night. And other stories...
Fourteen capital cities around the world swap clubnights for one evening this month. Ireland is represented by The Pod’s David De Valera, who is off to Buenos Aires. The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange takes place on November 27. David is ready to shake the Argentinian city’s to the core.
“I think the idea is genius,” he says. “I’ve heard from so many DJs that Argentina is the best place to play in the world.” On our side, The Wright Venue in Swords will host Argentina’s contender, which David reckons is the perfect setting. “It’s an amazing club and it’s atmosphere is unrivalled in Dublin.” For more see www.facebook.com/smirnoffireland.
A club anthem since the start of the year, Lorcan Mak’s ‘4 The Love’ finally gets a proper release on Top Billin’ in January as an EP alongside new remixes from TagTeam, Dark Sky and Mom and Dad. Also on the package are Kildare’s 2CharmingMen. “Lorcan is one of our favourite producers. If not our favourite and the original is brilliant,” says 2CM’s Conor Conroy. Waterford spinners Cailin Power and Karla K are joined by Ireland’s ‘First Lady Of Irish House’ Aoife Nic Canna for Here Come The Girls, an all-girl house bash at The Forum Lounge on November 26.
“The scene in Waterford is so good right now and it’s definitely time to showcase our female talent,” say the HCTG promoters. Meanwhile Aoife’s Club Cheol Tuesday radio show on NearFM (with Deadbots’ Nina) is still going strong. Listen in at www.nearfm.ie/livestream.
