Calling all festival fanatics and caravan connoisseurs, it's your time to shine at Electric Picnic 2016!
Electric Picnic is a wondrous place tucked away in Stradbally Co.Laois with various parks of the festival to cater to everyone's tastes. The beloved Trailer Park with its otherworldly, imaginative and eccentric mobile homes and caravans are back and EP 2016 is asking you to take on the Far-Fetched Caravan Competition.
Have you got the knack of creating something out of virtually nothing? Do scrappage yards flair your artistic passions to the potential and possibilities that could be? Is DIY'ing your forte? Then the Far-Fetched Caravan Competition could be the one for you.
EP 2016 are searching for the most jaw-dropping, inspiring and creative caravan-based ideas to join their Trailer Park. The Trailer Park is full of converted campers and renovated RV's that are bursting with life and creativity thanks to the minds of dreamers who DIY. EP are looking for designers, artists, electricians, builders and technicians to put their energy into something magic. No matter how wacky or how impractical your proposition may be, if you've the mindset of 'Anything is Possible' then EP wants you.
They are offering up 10 cash grants to enable you to create your own caravan projects and share it with others in EP's Trailer Park. The grants range from €150 to €1,500 and they're even willing to stretch the budget if an exceptional idea is put on the table. These grants will help you buy the materials that you need and work on the skills that you may lack in order to create your caravan. Your caravan does not need to be roadworthy but you have to consider plenty of other elements. Lighting, the interior, the exterior etc. Projects that stand on their own as a place of entertainment, that don't need the likes of performances or activities to draw people in and are a place of wonder in their own right. The keyword to consider here is that your creation should be interactive.
The judges for this year will be headed by Keith Payne. He has worked on stage sets for the likes of The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. He will be joined on the panel by the Trailer Park creative team; Roz Jellett, Charles Preston, Hugo Jellett and Sorcha O'Reilly.
Of course, your project will take time investment, love, attention and hard graft and is a commitment in itself. But if you're up for the challenge and your artistic tastebuds are tingling then you can get your entries in at;
