The Mayo singer-songwriter, hotly tipped as an act to watch last year, has made waves in 2023 across festival stages. Now he returns with his new single, released just before the singer’s performance at Qatar’s Formula 1 Grand Prix this past weekend.
Transporting listeners to a time and place of youthhood and possibility, ‘Young,’ the most recent single from Mayo-bred artist Faraway Martin, is a catchy pop token shaped by relatable lyricism. Released September 15, the single showcases Martin’s soaring vocals, as he sings such nostalgic lyrics as, “Wishing all our best days away, what I’d give to go back there again.”
His voice climbs over pulsing guitar melodies, creating a soulful wall of sound that drives the track forward to a cascading falsetto on the bridge. It’s an uplifting yet tender pop anthem, placing its listener at once within the beautiful sphere of youth and its treasured moments of hope and innocence.
Produced by Dave Skelton in Galway, Faraway Martin shared the new track ahead of his performance at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in his current home of Qatar. This past weekend, the Irish pop sensation played on a bill alongside big names like Bruno Mars and Alesso, dazzling a massive crowd with his tunes new and old.

The Mayo native singer-songwriter hit the charts running with his previous release, last year’s ‘I Got Fire,’ a track featured this year in a Hyundai ad for the FIFA World Cup. Martin subsequently took the stage at the opening night of the FIFA Fan Festival, performing before a 40,000 person audience.
He returned to his roots earlier this month, playing a sold-out, intimate hometown gig in Mayo with the Big News Podcast and Alan Clarke.
Faraway Martin’s stream of hit pop singles have earned the Irish talent international radioplay in the US, the UK and across the Middle East, having been supported by iRadio, MidWest Radio and received Ocean FM’s Track of the Week. Last year, he performed at Sea Sessions, Claremorris Folk Festival and various local festivals in Ireland, prepping the singer to take the stage at Electric Picnic and to open for the likes of Toploader, Aslan, Mick Flannery, Mundy, The Blizzards and Hermitage Green.
