Following the release of Brazilian football legend Pelé's debut single 'Acredita No Véio (Listen To The Old Man)', a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela, last month, Fatboy Slim has joined the party with an irresistible new remix.
"I am resigned to the fact that I will never share a game of football with this man so I am delighted to be part of his groove," Fatboy Slim says. "His voice is as silken as his goal scoring skills.”
The original track was released just ahead of Pelé's 80th birthday, and was used by FIFA in their online birthday celebrations for the legendary footballer.
"I wrote this one because when I used to play with Santos, the coach used to say that when we lost it was the players' fault, but when we won it was the macumba (folk religion) had helped," he recalls. "The song is joking about that – of course, macumba doesn't win games at all."

Former Hot Press cover stars Rodrigo y Gabriela, Pelé's collaborators on the track, initially kicked off their career busking on Grafton Street and performing in Dublin, and were ultimately signed to Irish label Rubyworks. They won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for their album Mettavolution in January 2020.
