Father John Misty has announced the release of his sixth studio album Mahashmashana, out November 22 via Bella Union.
He also shared the accompanying lead single ‘Screamland’, featuring Alan Sparhawk from Low on guitar and a string arrangement written by Drew Erickson, as well as a music video directed by Estefania Kröl.
Commenting on the video, Kröl says: “The video is a visual journey through the depths of ‘Screamland,’ capturing the essence of both the music and the artists. Father John Misty blends seamlessly into the scene, becoming a part of the city, a living echo of ‘Screamland.’”
The upcoming record includes the recent single ‘I Guess Time Makes A Fool Of Us All’, as well as ‘Screamland’, ‘She Cleans Up’, and ‘Josh Tillman and The Accidental Dose.’ The latter two were mixed by BJ Burton.
Recently, the singer released the compilation Greatish Hits: I Followed My Dreams and My Dreams Said To Crawl, a career-spanning collection of songs taken from his five acclaimed records, marking the first appearance of the hit single ‘Real Love Baby’ on an album release.
