As part of our Summer Festival Special, Toshín tell us about her special festival memories...
Toshín
My best festival memory was definitely last year, when we played All Together Now. It was amazing to see random people just walk into the show, and having my own fans come as well. Walking around the festival afterwards, people were coming up and saying, ‘You were class!’ Also, the Staples Jr. Singers played the Lovely Days stage, and they called me up to do a song with them. That was another highlight.
I think festivals will be even more energetic this year. I’m in the middle of writing my album, so we have loads of new songs – we’ve never had so many to perform. It will also be really interesting to see the reaction of the fans. I’m trying to put on a theatrical show this year, where there’s more action. We’re gonna go from start to finish without stopping. At the shows, I usually do a little ‘He loves me, he loves me not’ thing with a flower, and the fans also bring flowers and we all do it together.
I’m planning on having more props this year. I don’t know exactly what yet, but expect double the energy!
• Toshín plays at Rock Against Homlessness at 3Olympia, Dublin on May 26, and All Together Now, Waterford (August 1-4).
