As part of our Summer Festival Special, Naomi Hamilton – aka Jealous of the Birds – tells us about the festivals she's looking forward to over the months ahead...
Naomi Hamilton
"We’ve never played the Derry Jazz Festival (cityofderryjazzfestival.com; April 28–May 2) before, so it’ll be nice to have a wander around. There’s pages and pages of what’s on in the programme, but the National Jazz Orchestra are doing an Amy Winehouse tribute, which will be absolutely stellar, and I’ll definitely be catching Imelda May who’s headlining. Linley Hamilton is putting on a special quintet performance. You’re spoilt for choice!
"We’re also playing Night + Day (nightandday.ie; September 23–25) in Roscommon in September. That’ll be our first time at that festival too, it looks great. I’d love to check out Stendhal (stendhalfestival.com; June 30–July 2), we’ve played it a couple of times but not this year. That’s at the end of June and it’s always amazing. There’s definitely an extra buzz about festivals. We’ll be trying out a bunch of new material, so it’ll be great to give those upcoming releases a spin."
