Fia Moon's next single 'Simple' will be released this Friday, August 20. The upbeat track is the latest from the Irish pop singer-songwriter, who explores the complexities of relationships, life, and perspectives in the song.
Of the single, Moon said: "I've always been fascinated by the fact that two people can be in the same situation but experience it through a completely different lens because of their mindset. This song really is an exploration of that and wishing I was able switch to a less complicated frame of mind, wishing things would be more simple."
She added that she wanted to convey the uncertain feelings of an early relationship.
"The complicated emotions that arise, when one person may be more invested than the other and challenge my thinking to be more black and white," she explained. "I wanted to turn this frustration into something positive and uplifting. It is also a reminder to not take things too seriously."
Moon co-wrote and produced the track with Bill Maybury, who is based in Cork, and Austin Ward, who is based in LA. Together, the three accomplished the making of the single remotely through Zoom calls. Moon would record vocals at The Clinic Recording Studios in Dublin before sending them over to Ward in the States, who was in Mississippi at the time.

"It's not every day that a song is born via the internet between Dublin and Mississippi," Ward said. "Working on 'Simple' with Fia, with an ocean between us, was a light amongst the darkness. Her melodic instincts and musical mind paired wonderfully with my own musical perspective and production style, resulting in a track both delicate and cathartic."
Earlier this year, Moon was a part of our Hot For 2021 Irish Acts. In April, she was a part of our Music Industry in Ireland feature, where she discussed how COVID has affected her career, and last August she performed for our Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series. Outside of her solo music, Moon is also a part of Irish Women in Harmony.
