The Police's support act Fiction Plane have announced that they will follow up their show at Croke Park with a headline slot in Dublin venue Whelan's.
The three-piece will play the Dublin venue on October 7th.
The set is likely to draw on material from sophomore album Left Side Of The Brain, which was produced by Radiohead and Björk knob-twiddler Paul Corkett.
If you're going to Croke Park show, you might be forgiven for thinking that Sting and the boys are playing two gigs in one night. Fiction Plane feature Sting's son Joe Sumner as their frontman, who - just like his Dad - plays bass and sings.
The band's name is also a neat little anagram for 'Infant Police', and their reggae bounce and Sumner's commanding vocals recall the sound of . . . er . . . The Police. Either that's Uncanny Event Of The Month or Sting's interest in Eastern mysticism has resulted in a premature reincarnation . . .
Anyway, tickets for Fiction Plane's October 7th show are priced at €24.00. They're on sale now from www.ticketmaster.com and all usual Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
