Fresh off a wonderful show at All Together Now, the Swedish folk-duo First Aid Kit have announced an upcoming Dublin gig for this autumn.
The gig will take place on Tuesday, October 23, in the Olympia Theatre.
First Aid Kit consists of sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg who became famous through their YouTube cover of Fleet Foxes’ ‘Tiger Mountain Peasant Song’ in 2008. They soon began to produce original music and released their debut album The Big Black and the Blues in 2010. As their popularity grew, the band earned a Brit Award in 2015 and were recognized as one of the five best international groups. Their newest album Ruins was released in January of 2018, featuring songs like ‘Fireworks’ and ‘Rebel Hearts’.
Additionally, The Staves will accompany the band as the opener for the night’s festivities.
The Staves also emerged in humble settings, playing their first gigs at open-mic venues. As people grew fond of their sound, the band graduated to supporting acts like The Civil Wars and Bon Iver. Their first album, Dead & Born & Grown debuted in 2012, followed by If I Was under Atlantic Records in 2015. Most recently the group released an EP titled Pine Hollows full of live tracks in February of this year.
