RCA Records and Legacy Recordings have announced the release of Elvis's first complete collection of his hometown recordings in Memphis. The collection, Memphis, will be released on August 9 of this year, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of Presley's first recording sessions at Sun Studios.

Named after Presley's hometown, Memphis will include 111 career-spanning tracks starting from his earliest sessions at Sun Studios to The King's final recordings at The Jungle Room at Graceland.

Eighty-eight tracks have been remixed with the exception of those recorded at Sun Studios. Grammy-winning winner Matt Ross-Spang completed the mixing at Southern Grooves in Memphis. Overdubs were stripped away, leaving listeners with what Elvis heard live in the studio at the time of recording.

Memphis will be released in 5CD, 2LP and digitally, the newly mixed track 'Polka Salad Annie' from Elvis's 1974 Homecoming concert is the first track to be released off the upcoming collection.

Elvis first began recording at Sun Studios in Memphis at the age of 18, where he premiered on a local radio station. In 1974, he brought his famous Vegas show back home to Memphis, where he appeared on stage alongside 20 musicians.

"It's always been said that a person cannot return to their hometown, but you have disproven that theory completely," he said near the end of the show.

The Memphis collection will be celebrated throughout Elvis Week 2024 this Summer, including two special events at Graceland.

On August 13, Graceland Soundstage will host "Elvis: Back in Memphis". The following day, Sony will host a special Memphis listening event and Q&A at Graceland's Guest House Theatre.
