After teasing an impending album with a host of singles, Florence + The Machine have released details of a forthcoming LP, Dance Fever. The indie-outfit's fifth studio album is set for release on may 13 via Polydor Records.

With the album's announcement, the group shared its third single this year 'My Love', accompanied by yet another Autumn De Wilde directed visual. Departing from previous singles 'King' and 'Heaven is Here', the latest offering is far groovier, leaning into the poppier side of the outfit's sound.

Written with the help of Glass Animals' Dave Bayley, the single was originally intended as a "sad little poem" before transforming into a synth-led, chest-thumping track.  Welch calls the final sound reminiscent of "Nick Cave at the club."

Lyrically, the front-woman took inspiration from a wide breadth of sources, ranging from the tragic heroines of pre-Raphaelite art to folk-horror films The Wicker Man and Midsommar.

Dance Fever is produced by Welch and Bayley along with Jack Antonoff. The LP was written predominantly in London over the course of the pandemic. In anticipation of the world's re-opening, it conjures up what Welch missed most amid lockdown – clubs, festivals, reunions and the "whirl of movement and togetherness." Sonic nods include folk, '70s Iggy Pop, Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris.

Another key inspiration for the work is the Renaissance phenomenon of "Choreomania." In the ritual, groups of people danced wildly to the point of exhaustion, collapse and even death. Its influence over Welch is clearly defined in the visuals for both 'King' and 'Heaven is Here.'
