This fortnight's news and gossip from the domestic front...
In a controversial move, The Dead Flags have joined Morgan Kelly in his scathing attack on Patrick Honohan with their latest nugget ‘You Got It Wrong’. Well, not really – but the track does share his sentiments!
The Sligo punk popsters (now Dublin-based) have been keeping quiet of late but are ready to make a return to the live circuit with the infectious single.
2010’s acclaimed long-player Gentlemen’s Club met with many plaudits and spawned the lauded singles ‘Let’s Start A Fire Tonight’ and ‘Anymore’. The confection was produced by Frames man Karl Odlum and Steve Rooke of Franz Ferdinand fame.
Their recent hiatus was due to the departure of drummer Kevin Lowery. Freshly revitalised, they take to the national highways and byways for a slew of shows (check hotpress.com for details).
In date for your diary news... the next Nighthawks At The Cobalt will take place on Saturday, May 21 and there are only a few tickets left from the Oxfam Shop on Parliament Street. So get moving! The evening features performances by Eoin Dillon of Kíla, the wonderful Duncan Maitland and beguiling Ann Scott with the usual blend of rib-tickling comedy and reading. Not to be missed!
