This year's Grammy Awards introduced three new categories, best African music performance, best pop dance recording, and best alternative jazz album.
Fontaines D.C. have been twice nominated at the 2025 Grammy Awards, alongside music big wigs like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Billie Eilish.
The 67th edition of the prestigious music awards will commence in early February, with event organisers The Recording Academy unveiling the list of nominees.
Fontaines D.C. have secured a nomination in the Best Rock Album category for Romance, which landed in August. The Dublin rockers will take on The Rolling Stones, Jack White, Green Day, Idles, Pearl Jam and The Black Crowes. Fontaines were last nominated for Best Rock Album with 2021's A Hero's Death.
They also received a second nod in the Best Alternative Music Performance category, where they will go up against Cage the Elephant, Kim Gordon, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and St. Vincent.
Belfast-raised rapper Jordan Adetunji also received a nomination in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for his collaboration with Kehlani on ‘Kehlani (Remix)’.
Some of the biggest names in music including Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter have all been nominated in the Album of the Year category - alongside André 3000 and Jacob Collier - as well as the Record of the Year category joining Kendrick Lamar.

The Beatles have also been nominated for their song ‘Now and Then’, which dropped early last year and was deemed their last-ever record release.
Beyoncé leads this year’s female-dominated nominations, receiving 11 nods and making her the most-nominated artist in the show’s history. Her Grammy nod success follows the controversy surrounding her country album, Cowboy Carter, which was snubbed at this year’s Country Music Association Awards.
Meanwhile, Swift’s seventh nod in the album category for her chart-raiding double LP, The Tortured Poets Department, saw the pop star overtake Barbara Streisand, who had formerly tied with the ‘Anti-Hero’ star with six nods. Swift won the best album category last year with her 2022 album Midnights.
This year's Grammy Awards has also introduced three new categories, best African music performance, best pop dance recording, and best alternative jazz album.
