The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled to take place later this year in Cleveland, Ohio.
The nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2021 have been revealed – featuring Foo Fighters, Kate Bush, Jay-Z, Fela Kuti, The Go-Go's, Iron Maiden, Dionne Warwick, Mary J. Blige, Rage Against the Machine, Devo, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, New York Dolls, Carole King and LL Cool J.
This is Foo Fighters and Jay-Z's first year of eligibility for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – as their first commercial recordings were released over 25 years ago. It's also Mary J. Blige, Fela Kuti, The Go-Go's, Iron Maiden and Dionne Warwick's first time to be nominated for the honour.
Notably, last year's nominees Thin Lizzy are missing from the list – while other 2020 nominees Todd Rundgren and Chaka Khan are in the running again. Despite making the longlist of nominees last year, Thin Lizzy were not inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame – a decision that sparked serious backlash from fans. The Class of 2020 inductees included Whitney Houston, Notorious B.I.G., Nine Inch Nails, T. Rex, the Doobie Brothers and Depeche Mode.
The Class of 2021 inductees are set to be announced in May, followed by a live ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio in the autumn.
The public are invited to cast their votes for their favourite 2021 nominees through the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website – with voting open until April 30.
