Ahead of the release of their eagerly anticipated 11th album, But Here We Are, on June 2, Foo Fighters have released another track from the project – the powerful 10-minute-long 'The Teacher', which arrives alongside an accompanying short film.
The longest song that the band have ever recorded, 'The Teacher' is a captivating departure for Dave Grohl and Co.
The short film was directed by multimedia artist Tony Oursler, who initially rose to prominence in the late '70s, for his video, sculpture, installation, performance and painting. He landed on Foo Fighters' radar for his work with David Bowie – specifically, his video for 'Where Are We Now?'
But Here We Are is the band's first studio album since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins last year.
According to their official website, the LP will be a "brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year" and "a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family."
"Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, But Here We Are opens with newly released lead single 'Rescued,' the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between," the description continues.

But Here We Are was produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and has been described as "the first chapter of the band's new life."
It is dedicated to both Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl's mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl, who was a teacher for over 30 years.
