Following the release of their highly anticipated 10th album, Medicine At Midnight, on Friday, Foo Fighters are back with the music video for one of the project's standout tracks, 'No Son Of Mine'.
"This is the kind of song that just resides in all of us and if it makes sense at the time, we let it out,” Dave Grohl says of 'No Son Of Mine' – which features nods to influences like Queen, Motörhead and Metallica. "Lyrically it’s meant to poke at the hypocrisy of self righteous leaders, people that are guilty of committing the crimes they’re supposedly against…”
Speaking to Hot Press ahead of the release of Medicine At Midnight, Grohl noted that he "knew this record had to be something special":
"I looked back on all the music we’ve made and thought, ‘Okay, we’ve covered a lot of ground since 1995. We’ve made fast, noisy, heavy, dissonant punk and hard rock songs. We’ve also made gentle, beautiful, orchestrated acoustic music and these four-minute blasts of bubblegum. But the one thing we’ve never done is explore groove-oriented songs.’ Whether it was Motown, Sly & The Family Stone, David Bowie or the Rolling Stones, it’s a type of music we all grew up listening to. We love bands that have feel and groove and make people dance. Not that we wanted to make a disco or a fucking EDM record, but after 25 years, let’s start the fucking party now!"
