Former Dáil member launches debut album this Sunday

Politician turned musician. Now that's not something you hear everyday, is it? But that's exactly the career path that former Dáil Eireann member Paul Gogarty has chosen.

Now operating under the name His Sweet Surprise, the former politician (if the name Paul Gogarty doesn't ring a bell, maybe these four words will help: Fuck You Deputy Stagg!) will officially launch his debut album His Sweet Surprise this Sunday, February 24 in Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club, 12th Lock, Lucan.

The gig takes place from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. and all proceeds on the day will go towards a charity boxing fundraiser that Paul Gogarty is also involved in. This event, on March 9 will see Paul and 30 other non-boxers take to the Fossett's Circus ring in an effort to raise funds for the club, as well as social partners such as the national suicide prevention centre Pieta House.

Tracks from the album got their first national preview on RTE's Mooney show last Tuesday and Wednesday, and they're described as "a fusion of electronic music and R&B, highlighting Paul's diverse musical interests."
