Members of the music community have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late hip-hop legend.
Magoo, perhaps best known as one half of Timbaland & Magoo, is reported to have died at age 50.
A cause of death for the Virginia rapper, born Melvin Barcliff, is yet to be reported.
Timbaland & Magoo formed in 1989 when the pair met as teenagers and decided to form their own rap group. The duo released three albums together and are best known for their hit ‘Up Jumps Da Boogie’ as well as their work with Missy Elliot.
In 2021, Blackground Records teamped up with Empire Distribution for a re-release of the entire Timbaland & Magoo catalogue.
This deal made it possible for the group’s music to be released on streaming platforms for the first time.
