The legendary Irish band are celebrating their anniversary with a special one-off performance.
2020 is shaping up to be a special year for The Frames, as they gear up to celebrate their 30th anniversary with a headline gig at Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin on June 20.
Originally founded by Glen Hansard in 1990, the band has played an immensely influential role in Dublin's music scene. Since releasing their debut album, Another Love Song, in 1992, The Frames have gone to build up a religiously devoted live following, both at home and abroad.
“There’s something about stepping back into the furious belly of this beast where the low bells chime around the parish," Glen Hansard notes in a statement about the anniversary gig, "Where time is swallowed and years slip by, this place where most of my hearing went in the sound of working it out from soaring angst to occasional pride into unmoored middle age. The songs grow too and change their meaning, till it all collapses together into the glorious bonfire that is The Frames.”
“A significant birthday should be celebrated. 2020 will mark The Frames’ 30th journey around the Sun," Colm Mac Con Iomaire adds. "Most of that time has been spent travelling around the World, in and in celebration of, music. Where better to celebrate? One night in Dublin! Come join us!”
