The Fall leader was loved and revered throughout the rock 'n' roll world...
The tributes and anecdotes continue to come thick and fast following last night's sad news that the leader of The Fall, Mark E. Smith, had passed away at home aged 60.
Here are some of the latest ones to land:

‘the Fall’s contract to appear on Later … with Jools Holland included a clause stipulating that under no circumstances was Holland to play “boogie-woogie piano anywhere near the Fall”’ https://t.co/Pmtu3ZzIhQ

Like Bowie, Mark E Smith's death is being mourned by all ages. I think of him as the gunpowder of the late 70s. Others claim him in the 80s. Yet more for the 90s and then there's those who caught up with him in this century. That tells you everything.

Mark E Smith was a complex, driven man. I greatly admired him as an artist and -both despite and because of his eccentricities- really liked him as a person. RIot in Righteousness, Mark mate.

Mark E Smith. RIP
A unique artist who lived the life he wanted. Genuine passion for the music he made. No one talked like him or sang like him. I remember him as a funny guy laughing in Bexely Square and living large. Remember his art.
Goodnight Mark E.— KIRK BRANDON (@kirkbrandon) January 24, 2018
