Frankie Cosmos have announced their upcoming sixth studio album Different Talking, set for release on June 27, 2025, via Sub Pop records.

Billed as "a collection of fragments and memories, remembered places, and reinterpreted feelings that adds up to a lucent, humming whole," Different Talking is a sturdy indie-rock record with aging and the passage of time as main themes.

Lyrically, the 17-track album showcases some of lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter Greta Kline’s most insular work, while musically it explores many different textures—from country-inspired noodling to synthesisers and walls of sound.

"We’d go to any length to get Greta’s songs right, and she’s generous with songs, so we have a lot of freedom to arrange them," said bandmate Katie Von Schleicher. "It’s a rare talent to have, with rare freedom given, and the course hasn’t changed."

The indie-rock four-piece have also shared the record's lead single, 'Vanity', accompanied by a music video.

"I started writing it one evening while I walked 6.5 miles from Tompkins Square Park to Sunset Park, speaking directly to the universe and pleading to be considered by it," said Kline about the band's latest single.

"It feels like it encompasses this push and pull between adult and kid, government and governed, planet and blade of grass," she added.

Initially the solo project of singer-songwriter Greta Kline, Frankie Cosmos is currently comprised of Kline, Alex Bailey, Katie Von Schleicher, and Hugo Stanley.

Different Talking will mark the band's first full-length release since 2023's Clean Weird Prone, the deluxe version of 2022's Inner World Peace.
