Franz Ferdinand release new single and announce Greatest Hits album
"I have friends who believe you’re somehow not a ‘real’ fan if you own a 'Best Of' rather than a discography. I disagree," said lead singer Alex Kapranos on their new compilation album.
Scottish indie rockers Franz Ferdinand have revealed details about an upcoming Greatest Hits record that will arrive next year.
Hits to the Head will be released on March 11 on their longtime label Domino Records and will feature eighteen old tracks spanning the band's career as well as two brand new tunes.
'Billy Goodbye', the first of the new songs, has been released today, with Franz Ferdinand hits such as 'Take Me Out' and 'Do You Want To' also appearing on the record.
"It's the same as writing a set-list for a festival: you want to play the songs you know people want to hear," said lead singer Alex Kapranos in a statement about compiling the compilation.
"The hits. Bring the hits to the head. The heart. The feet. That means obvious singles, but also songs you know have a special meaning for both band and audience like 'Outsiders.' We also added two new songs, recorded last year: 'Billy Goodbye' and 'Curious'.
I have friends who believe you're somehow not a 'real' fan if you own a 'Best Of' rather than a discography. I disagree. I think of my parents' record collection as a kid. I loved their compilation LPs. I am so grateful that they had Changes or Rolled Gold. Those LPs were my entrance point. My introduction."
