The duo follow up their recently released singles 'Wait And See' and 'The Last Drop' with a forthcoming mini album, featuring a new double offering 'Feels Like Flying.'
Northern Irish/Dutch two-piece Fräulein have today unveiled details of their debut mini-LP, Sink Or Swim, out 14th June via Submarine Cat Records.
“I reject the belief that an artist should arrive fully-formed,” explains Joni Samuels, the duo's vocalist and guitarist. “I love when you can see artists’ growth, their progression. I want to always be getting better at playing music, at expressing emotion. This new record, Sink Or Swim, is the first time we’ve really translated what we can do live to the recording studio.”
Alongside the announcement, the band have also shared the new double single 'Feels Like Flying' today, offering up a ‘day’ and ‘night’ version of the song.
The 'Feels Like Flying (Day)' version boasts brooding guitar reverb and a propulsive rhythm section from drummer Karsten van der Tol, featuring Joni’s unmistakably aching and powerful vocal delivery. The 'Feels Like Flying (Night)' edition – the track's original demo - offers a more intimate, melancholy take with wistful Adrienne Lenker-esque vocals from Samuels.
The double single also features a double lyric video release, one for each tune. Both videos comprise vibrant animation and an apropos background, switching between sunlit and moonlit scenes for 'Day' and 'Night,' respectively.

The forthcoming record sees the duo maintaining their primal origins, while also showcasing new levels of sophistication. The direct impact of their unfussy riffage remains intact, but these new songs underscore the duo’s unbounded potential, their keen ear for tension and release and the intricate undertows within Samuels’ lyrics.
The new mini-album, Sink Or Swim highlights Fräulein's sonic flexibility, shifting between the moody build of new double single 'Feels Like Flying,' to the rhythmically elaborate powerhouse of 2024’s opener 'Wait And See' and the seasick annihilation of 'The Last Drop.'
Out 14th June 2024, fans can pre-save Sink or Swim here.
