From a deep place
Dutch techno producer Joris Voorn has brought his love of Detroit techno to its logical conclusion on ‘Deep’, his second artist album.
Instead of going with the minimal flow like everyone else, Dutch techno producer Joris Voorn has brought his love of Detroit techno to its logical conclusion on ‘Deep’, his second artist album. Some of Voorn’s biggest tracks, including the menacing Red Planet acid and the rumbling beats of ‘MPX 309’ and the pulsing, Italo-flavoured ‘Minor’ are present, but for the most part, he conjures up breathlessly beautiful deep techno soundtracks like ‘Lucid Dreams’ that are inspired by Carl Craig’s introspective work and 90s ambience. So many techno producers talk about making a ‘proper’ artist album, but only someone with Voorn’s wide vision can reach that place.
