"He was a protector, a rock, a hero," David Keenan reflected.
A fundraiser has been launched to help cover funeral expenses for Gar Kane – a well-known bass player in the Irish music community, who tragically passed away on Friday, October 9.
Gar, who performed and recorded as a member of David Keenan's band, has been remembered in tributes from friends and colleagues.
"We are all devastated by the loss of our brother Gar Kane," David wrote on Instagram. "I feel blessed to have shared the most important moments of my life with him and our musical family over the past five years. He was a protector, a rock, a hero. He will never be replaced."
"His memory lives on within us, and his incredible family."
Kiera Dignam, the daughter of Aslan's Christy Dignam, also paid tribute to Gar, who previously played bass with the Kiera Dignam Band.

"He was one of the most intelligent, talented people I've ever had the pleasure to spend time with and to have on stage with us for so many gigs, and I will be forever grateful to have those memories."
"I am heartbroken for his beautiful wife Caroline, their children and all his family."
