The funeral of One Direction member Liam Payne will be held today in England's Home Counties. His former band mates are expected to be in attendance, along with Payne's family and girlfriend Kate Cassidy.

The funeral is set to be closed to the public and will be followed by a wake. Payne's father Geoff brought his remains back to Britain two weeks ago so that he can be laid to rest. This morning, a flower arrangement was erected outside the entrance to the church where the funeral is to take place.

The 31-year-old died on October 16, after falling from the balcony of him hotel room in Buenos Aries, Argentina. Three people have since been charged in connection to the incident.

Payne was born in Wolverhampton and launched a successful solo career after achieving fame with One Direction in the 2010s. His solo album LP1 was released in December 2019, and included the songs 'Polaroid' and 'Strip That Down' featuring Quavo.

In a statement on Instagram, Payne's former bandmate Zayn Malik said: “I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there is no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated. I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are. Love you bro.”
