New album release signals a new era for Future Islands.
Future Islands has just announced they will be coming out with a new studio album entitled As Long As You Are. The album features their new single, 'Thrill,' with its music video starring and created by Samuel T. Herring. As their sixth studio record, it will be released on October 9 via 4AD.
As Long As You Are "looks to the past as well as the future, confronting old ghosts and embracing a new hope." It promises to be optimistic yet introspective in its exploration of trust, redemption and the act of "letting go," according to the band's statement.
Future Islands begin a new chapter, as the original trio of William Cashion, Samuel T. Herring and Gerrit Welmers, welcome drummer Mike Lowry to the ensemble as a full-time member and songwriter. The group produced As Long As You Are in collaboration with engineer Steve Wright at his Wrightway Studios in Baltimore.
On the day of its release, Future Islands will be live-streaming an exclusive performance from their hometown of Baltimore.
