Future Islands will return to Ireland this summer for Singular Artists' Wider Than Pictures show at the National Museum of Ireland. Tickets go on sale next week.
American synth-pop band Future Islands make their return to Ireland to play for Wider Than Pictures on Thursday, August 24th. They're the third headlining act to be announced after UK artist Yungblud and Swedish sibling duo First Aid Kit.
Wider Than Pictures is a series of exceptional shows by Singular Artists. This year, it will take place at the National Museum of Ireland at the Collin Barracks from Thursday, August 25th to Sunday, August 28th.
The Maryland band was transformed in 2014 by a singular, viral moment propelling them to the world-wide fame and attention. Their music is made with the quartet's heart and soul, "channelling art's great power to spread love and hope."
Known for their long tours, Future Islands is made up of Gerrit Welmers on keyboard, William Cashion on bass acoustic and electric guitar, Samuel T. Herring as the lyricist and vocalist, and Micahel Lowry on percussion.
They released their sixth album As Long As You Are back in 2020 on 4AD Records. It received acclaim from NME, Rolling Stone, and The Line Of Best Fit.

Hot Press has their own rave review for the album, exalting the band for their revitalising of electro-pop.
"Sometimes, electronic pop can sound a little flat and austere, but Future Islands manage to give you the warm and fuzzies, thanks to a combination of Herring’s ‘heart on the sleeve’ lyrics and a full, layered sound."
The Collin Barracks, named for Michael Collins, has housed the National museum of Ireland Decorative Arts and History's exhibits since 1997, although they were completed in 1704 by Limerick military engineer Thomas de Burgh.
The event will be 18 years and older - I.D. may be required.
Tickets go on sale next Friday, March 10th at 10AM.
There will be an exclusive pre-sale, available from Monday, March 6th at 10AM GMT for those that sign up to Singular Artists' mailing list, here:
