The latest JNLR figures are out and it's positive overall for the industry. Radio listenership is not only no longer declining, it went up by a single percentage point, meaning there were 34,000 more listeners in 2014 than the previous year.
Getting specific, RTÉ 2fm and Newstalk are the big victors.

Ryan Tubridy's 2fm morning show gained 6,000 listeners in the last quarter, and 25,000 over the whole year. He now has a healthy audience of 177,000 after a few rocky years in the slot. A number of other 2fm shows have also shown signs of growth, Nicky Byrne's show included.
On Radio 1, Miriam O'Callaghan and Claire Byrne had gains of 3,000 and 4,000 respectively. On the flip side, Joe Duffy's Liveline is down 21,000 listeners year-on-year.
Looking at Today FM, the The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show shed 2,000 listeners and Ray D'Arcy lost 15,000 listeners before his move back to RTÉ at the end of the year.
In local terms, Radio Nova continues to rise. They add 10% to their listenership, with 55,000 Dubliners tuning in every day. Their full listenership, counting an area that includes Kildare, Meath and Wicklow, is at 71,000.
