The platinum-certified singer-songwriter will play Live at the Marquee this summer.
After playing a sold out gig at the 3Arena this weekend, Gavin James has announced that he's not finished with Ireland yet, as he will be coming to Cork this summer to play Live at the Marquee. At that point, his platinum record Bitter Pill will have already turned a year old. Bitter Pill is in its 50th consecutive week on the Irish charts, and the album has won James the title of 180th most streamed artist in the world on Spotify with over 150 Million Streams.
Returning to Cork will be an opportunity for James to bring the epic journey of his career full circle, as he remembers his first Live at the Marquee gig as a real landmark in his life as a musician. “I can’t wait to return to the Marquee this summer, last year was amazing," he says. "It was my biggest headline ever at that time, I’m so delighted to be coming back!”
James has been playing music his whole life, singing vocals in a band he created in his teenage years, and playing marathons of 3-hour gigs all throughout Dublin pubs in his college years. After years of sneaking into gigs at Whelan's when he was underage, he got to play that stage himself, creating the album Live at Whelan's in 2014. After supporting Ed Sheeran at Croke Park, Sam Smith in the US, and Kodaline, it now seems as though it is Gavin James' turn to be the starring act.
Tickets will go on sale Thursday 15 December at 10am from Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
