The acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter makes a special guest appearance on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series on Friday – supported by the Department of Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
To coincide with the release of his highly anticipated new single 'Man On The Moon', Gavin James is set to make a special guest appearance on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series – going live on the Hot Press Instagram at 7.30pm on Friday, December 4.
With 1.5 billion streams, 5.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify and sold-out arena shows, Gavin James has achieved phenomenal global success – simply by letting his songs speak for themselves. Now he's ready to step into the spotlight with one of his finest releases to date.
His emotionally-charged new single, out this Friday, December 4, tells the story of the desolate loneliness of the 'Man On The Moon'. Despite being distanced from the wider world, "everyone loved him but he never knew." It's a powerful metaphor for a love that goes unspoken, but also a story that reflects our current times. With families, couples and friends having spent much of the year separated from the ones they love, 'Man On The Moon' offers a timely reminder that distance can't break our bonds.
"For 'Man On The Moon', I tried to picture someone on the moon, thinking that they are all alone and not realising that whole world is thinking about them," Gavin says of the new song. "It's about looking after the people you love because some days, they may feel like they have no one to talk to. In particular this year, people might feel more disconnected than usual from their friends and family. This song is a gentle reminder that you are never alone."

The new single is set to be released alongside a series of beautifully animated lyric videos. It introduces 'Man On The Moon: A Collection Of Short Stories' – a collection of emotionally compelling short films which further explore the themes of loneliness and separation that Gavin addresses in the song. The chapters in the collection will be shared via Gavin's social media accounts this Sunday, December 6, with the final part seeing fans create and share their own stores.
The Y&E Series continues to shine a light on some of the best new and emerging talent that Ireland has to offer in 2020 – with a brilliant selection acts joining Hot Press on Instagram every night for special live-streamed performances.
