Take a look at some of the best songs that have been featured on the hit animated comedy.
As most of the fans of the show know, Rick and Morty season 3 started up again last weekend. Most of the fans are no doubt feverishly hunting for that fabled McDonald’s Mulan promotional Szechuan sauce. For those that have decided to take a break, let’s take a look at some of the best songs that have appeared on the show.
10. Rick and Morty Original - The Flu-Hating Rapper
This a song that you can’t help but fall madly in love with. You cannot really explain why. Perhaps it is the fact that flu awareness is such an important subject. Yeah. That must be it.
9. DMX - X Gonna Give It To Ya
The next track is by your dawg DMX. This is the perfect theme song for getting swole and smashing the face of injustice.
8. Chaos Chaos - Do You Feel It?
Fans of the show will recognise this song from the end of ‘Auto Erotic Assimilation’ where Rick almost kills himself. Even if you are not coming out of a relationship with a parasitic hive mind, this is a great song.
7. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
While this song was only briefly sung by Rick doing karaoke in the episode ‘Meeseeks and Destroy’, it is still enough of an appearance to make it to number 7 on this list.
6. Blonde Redhead - For the Damaged Coda
This song appears in the episode “Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind” when we learn that Mortys are more devious and capable than we previously thought. The song itself is a cool atmospheric track and the whole scene would be sorely lacking without it.
5. Booty Bass - Shake That Ass
This song appears at the very last scene of season one. It is a great comedic note to end on. It is also a great song to get riggity riggity wrecked to.
4. Mazzy Star - Look On Down From The Bridge
Most of you will recognize this song from the very disturbing end to the episode ‘Rick Potion #9’. The song itself is beautiful but, as fans will know, it is almost impossible to think of anything other than that scene when you listen to it.
3. Rick and Morty Original - Goodbye Moonmen
While some readers might take issue with this song being higher on the list than the others, you cannot deny that is a great song. In case you did not recognise him, that is the voice of Jemaine Clement from The Flight of the Conchords doing the voice he uses for his Bowie impersonation.
2. Nine Inch Nails- Hurt
It is always irksome whenever people think that this song is a Johnny Cash original. Johnny Cash did do a great version of this song, but nothing can compete with the original. Thankfully, the creators of Rick and Morty seem to agree. This song was featured at the end of the second season. Whoever picked this song for that ending deserves an award.
1. Rick and Morty Original - Get Schwifty
Even though Rick and Morty has featured a plethora of incredible songs, nothing can compare with the lyrical stylings of Rick Sanchez himself. Whenever you find yourself in a dangerous situation, just remember to relax and, most importantly, get schwifty.
