Over £115,000 (€139,000) have been raised at last Friday’s Gig For Gaza in Bristol. The event was curated by Paul Weller, presented by Annie Mac and featured Irish acts such as KNEECAP, Róisín El Cherif and Maverick Sabre.
All proceeds from the gig will be donated to the organisations Medical Aid For Gaza and Gaza Forever, which both provide essential aid – including food, medical supplies and emergency shelter – for those suffering in Gaza amid the current humanitarian crisis.
Other attendees included Primal Scream, Paloma Faith, Liam Bailey, Lowkey, and Well himself, as well as special guest speakers and short films.

“Gig For Gaza raised over £115,000 to support life-saving humanitarian efforts,” Weller announced via Instagram. “This incredible sum will help provide vital essentials like water, food, tents, clothing, and medical supplies for those in desperate need in Gaza.”
El Cherif, an acclaimed Irish-Palestinian artist, was joined on the night by musicians Ruth Smith and Fergal Scahill. The pair previously contributed to her powerful track 'Siúil a Rúin', released earlier this year. Combining Irish, English and Arabic, the song raised funds for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF)’s Gaza Emergency Regional Fund.
Last month, Smith and Scahill toured Ireland alongside Palestinian musicians Mohammad Kahla and Abed Alqam, to celebrate the rich folk traditions of both countries – with El Cherif joining as a special guest for several shows.
