The country’s most influential house duo, Fish Go Deep, mark a quarter century of cranking out banging tunes.
Leeside duo Fish Go Deep celebrate 25 years at the cutting edge with a series of events in the Real Capital through November. First up, a brace of Go Deep parties at The Pavilion, Friday November 29 and 30. After that comes Tonie Walsh’s exhibition of club photos, posters and flyers. Plus, catch two performances of Ray Scannell’s acclaimed play, Deep, set in and around Sir Henry’s and Cork’s early ’90s clubbing scene. It runs November 27 and 28. In addition our two favourite fish, Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson, are having a question-and-answer session at The Pavilion, Saturday November 30. The first is in Galway at Black Box, November 14. After that it’s over to Dublin’s Olympia, November 15. The folks behind Dublin night Abstract have been working hard since kicking off their Pygmalion residency last February. They’ve since brought over 37 international acts, including The Martinez Brothers, Guy Gerber, Soul Clap and David August. Next up is Steve Bug, November 9. Belfast Music Week goes down November 11–17 with a slew of events lined up, starting with local label Champion Sound Music celebrating their first birthday and marking the occasion with new release Best Of Champion Sound Vol. 1. The aforementioned Ryan Vail – who has an album slated for 2014 – releases new single ‘Free (‘13 Radio Edit)’ on November 8 via Champion Sound Music. The label has a new Ghosts EP lined up for ’14.
Elsewhere speculation is growing over the secret identity of aforementioned producer Unknown. Ellie Goulding, no less, has posited that he may be La Roux, her former boyfriend Skrillex or Ryan Vail!
