First gaining prominence last November when they released their single 'Alison Stewart', named after Bono's wife, now the band are going to be taking part in the celebrations this September to mark 40 years of U2.
U2 have cited the 25th of September as being the date the four musicians came together in Larry Mullen’s kitchen on Rosemount Avenue and formed the band that would go on to be one of the most successful in music history. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this occasion, two concerts will be held on the 24 and 25th of this month in the Grand Social Venue. Well known U2 cover band, The Joshua Tree, will also be at the event. There is speculation that U2's forthcoming album Songs of Experience will be released close to their 40th anniversary.
Scott Pattison, guitarist with December, said: "It’s an honour to be invited to play at this event. We wouldn’t be songwriters or musicians at all but for U2. Dublin has a special place in our hearts because of their legacy and the great welcome we recently received there. We are looking forward to going back and meeting fellow U2 fans and musicians from all over the world."
December’s single Alison Stewart is still available on iTunes and all proceeds will go to Chernobyl Children International – a charity dear to U2 and Bono’s wife Alison Hewson who serves on the board.
