Featuring twelve tracks, the record will include interpretations of hits such as ‘With or Without You’ and ‘A room at the heartbreak hotel’.
Glasgow natives December are set to release U2 cover album on November 2. The record, football:radio, marks the third U2 cover LP by the band.
Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland the band are heavily inspired by both U2 and Bruce Springsteen. They gained recognition with their track, ‘Alison Stewart’ which is dedicated to U2 and Bono’s wife Ali Stewart/Hewson. Released in 2015, all the proceeds went towards Irish charity Chernobyl Children International, an organisation close to activist Ali Hewson's heart.
Scott Pattison, guitarist with December noted, "We’ve been on this kind of mad journey now where we almost felt compelled to say thank you to U2 for the difference their music has made in our lives," he reflected, "U2 were always brave, always planted a flag of new direction each time they reinvented themselves, none more so than with the release of The Unforgettable Fire. They’ve been an inspiration and example to us all of our lives and this whole project has been a kind of hamfisted thank you I guess!"
football:radio features twelve tracks, consisting of their own interpretations of hits such as ‘With or Without You’ and ‘A room at the heartbreak hotel’. Along with their tribute albums to both Bruce Springsteen and U2, December have released five LPs of original material since 2016, their most recent original album I Will Not Run released in 2023.
