The father and son have teamed up to release a non-traditional EDM track.
The Script's Glen Power has teamed up with his son Luke Power, known by his stage name Badscandal, to release the country-fuelled EDM track, 'The Shore'.
The track begins with an infectious guitar sound and a toned-down piano vibe, giving a hint of a country feel. Once it reaches the chorus, the beat ripples like a cosmic drip of sounds, heightened by a swift fiddle and bass kick. Clear rich vocals front the piece - keeping the track consistently high energy.
The track was originally written by Glen for The High Kings, and when it didn’t click with them, Badscandal turned it into a house track, which was subsequently signed by Soave Records - one of the biggest house labels in the business.
Luke admits he spent a long time perfecting the track, wanting to keep the Irish elements strong throughout, and ensuring it was a unique house track in this Irish/Viking-esque style.
BACKGROUND
Glen Power joined The Script in 2001. The group went on to win three Meteor Ireland Music Awards, two World Music Awards and two Brit Award Nominations – selling millions of albums in the process and racking up hundreds of millions of streams across different platforms. The band are still performing at the highest level, touring very successfully through 2023.

In addition to his work as an acclaimed drummer and backing vocalist with The Script, Glen continues to break new ground.
Earlier this year he released singles 'Tomorrow' and 'Bitter Wine' in collaboration with Badscandal – both of which have been instant streaming successes. Glen's multi-instrumental, production and vocal talents may surprise those who only knew him for his live work with The Script.
Since the beginning of this year Badscandal has amassed over eight-million combined total streams and has been featured in some of Spotify’s biggest editorial playlists, making Luke one of the fastest growing EDM artists in Ireland.
GROWING UP
Luke has also established himself as a talented songwriter, producer and engineer, having written and produces for various
artists and labels both inside and outside the EDM world.
Luke grew up being exposed to Glen's music, watching him work in studios, perform in large arenas and tour the world.
From an early age Luke took an interest in music, and owned a variety of instruments. "I don't even play 90% of them," Power laughed. "I spend my time in front of a screen with a keyboard – and maybe a guitar if I'm feeling lucky!
"Growing up surrounded by musicians was fucking annoying," he adds with a grin. "I spent almost everyday having different instruments shoved in my hands. My grandad always wanted me to play the accordion, but I couldn't crack it and I never wanted to anyway! My dream was always to create in the studio. I used to watch my uncle produce when I was a kid."

The artist has big plans for 2023, with tracks signed and ready to hit streaming platforms.
"I hit goals last year I wasn't expecting to hit. Or even trying! Now I've got a great team of people behind me and I can't wait to show the world what we can bring to the stage," Luke added.
"It’s been a big year for us both," Luke says of the father and son combo, "since he’s writing with The High Kings and getting Steve Perry on tracks and I’m working with some big EDM artists and signing tracks on major labels – which has been a dream of mine since I was a kid."
