Lewis' son has been charged with second-degree murder.
Canadian band Teenage Head – once considered "Canada's answer to the Ramones" – have paid tribute to one of their founding members, Gord Lewis, following news that he was found murdered in his home in Hamilton, Ontario on Sunday. He was 65.
According to CBC.ca, Jonathan Lewis, the deceased guitarist's 41-year-old son has been charged with second-degree murder.
"We are heartbroken and still trying to process the loss of our friend, bandmate and brother Gord Lewis," Teenage Head wrote on Instagram. "Our hearts are with his family and all that knew and loved him. Gord was a force and an inspiration to many. You were taken from us far too soon."
Considered pioneers of Canada's punk rock scene, Teenage Head rose to prominence in the late '70s and '80s – having been formed by high school friends Frank Kerr and Lewis. They released a string of well-received albums, but at the height of their success, Lewis was seriously injured in a car accident. In 2008, the released Teenage Head with Marky Ramone, after teaming up with the Ramones drummer, and producer Daniel Rey.
In 2020, a documentary about the band, Picture My Face: The Story of Teenage Head, was released:

So sad to hear of Teenage Head's Gord Lewis passing. One of the most important - and underrated - bands this country has ever produced. A leader in punk and rock and roll from the 1970s onwards, his enthusiasm and tenacity to his craft was astonishing, and well worth remembering. pic.twitter.com/SepjicSlyn

The very first concert I went to was Teenage Head, in a church of all places. Barely into my teens, it set the stage for a lifetime of rock n' roll. Our most sincere condolences to all who knew and loved Gord Lewis. - SC pic.twitter.com/ObJZbZhfHS
