It is alleged that the man was stabbed after using a homophobic slur.
Nathaniel Glover, also known as Kidd Creole from trailblazing rap group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, has been arrested and charged with murdering a homeless man, John Jolly.
Pitchfork reported that Glover "allegedly used a knife to stab the 55-year-old man multiple times in the torso Tuesday night at East 44th Street and 3rd Avenue" in New York.
"According to TMZ, police reportedly believe that Glover’s motive was an angry reaction to being called a homophobic slur."
Meanwhile, the New York Daily News quotes a police source saying “They had no prior relationship. They had words. Things got out of hand. It was some sort of diss.”
Jolly had been staying at a homeless shelter in the Bowery two miles from where he was stabbed.

New York County corrections records show that Jolly spent time in prison for first degree rape from 1997 to 2002, and criminal possession of a weapon from 2010 to 2012.
Glover was reportedly on his way to his job as a janitor and handyman, and was wearing his blue janitorial uniform when he was arrested.
This contrasts with the success, acclaim and influence he had with the Furious Five, who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
