The band's iconic 1994 major-label debut turns thirty next year.
Punk rock legends Green Day have announced a reissue of their 1994 major-label debut album, Dookie. The reissue will be available on the 29th of September, and feature 17 unreleased demos, 6 studio outtakes and 2 live recordings.
Additionally, the band dropped 10 4-track unreleased demos along with the announcement. Limited merch was also made available on their webstore.
They announced the reissue on their Twitter. "Sometimes you take a gamble and luck's on your side," read the caption. "Back in the summer of '93 Green Day went into the studio to record Dookie and had no idea what their destiny would be. They were young, rebellious, and absolutely scared shitless. There was no telling if they were about to prove everyone wrong or make the biggest mistake of their lives."

Arguably one of the most influential albums out there, Dookie has sold over 20 million copies and won the Grammy award for "Best Alternative Album". It was a record that blasted Green Day into the mainstream, featuring songs like "Basket Case" and "When I Come Around," and reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200. A veritable 90's classic, it continues to inspire teenage angst to this day despite being almost three decades old.
Green Day has been embarking on a string of reissues, with this year's Nimrod 25th Anniversary reissue. Their last studio album, Father of All..., was released in 2020. They've also been busy touring, having booked a series of festivals and headlining last year's massive Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. The tour came to Dublin's Marlay Park: Hot Press did a live review.
