"I've tested negative, but I have made the decision not to travel to Miami for New Year's Eve Party out of caution," Armstrong posted on his Instagram.
Lead singer and guitarist for Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, has decided to cancel his appearance on Miley Cyrus' New Year's Eve Party - a televised concert hosted by the 'Wrecking Ball' singer and comedian Pete Davidson - due to being exposed recently to COVD-19.
Although he is currently testing negative for the virus, he has decided to be safe rather than sorry and not play the show tonight.
"After the holiday I found out I was exposed to COVID," Armstrong posted on his Instagram story.
"I've tested negative but, I have made the decision not to travel to Miami for New Year's Eve Party out of caution. Happy New Year and hope everyone stays safe!"
Although organisers NBC have not announced a replacement yet, many other acts will play the show, such as Saweetie, Jack Harlow, Brandi Carlile, Anitta, 24kGoldn and Kitty Ca$h.
It's been a busy 2021 for Green Day, with the northern California punk band restarting their Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy in the US after the pandemic delayed it.

The tour is coming to Ireland next year at the RDS, with a limited number of tickets still on sale here.
They'll likely be playing some of the singles they've released in 2021, including 'Holy Toledo', released off the soundtrack of Mark, Mary and Some Other People.
