Gregory Porter has been announced as the first headline act for next year’s Cork Jazz Festival, playing a show at the Cork Opera House on 24 October 2024.
Fresh from memorable performances on The Late Late and Graham Norton shows, Porter is set to make his return to Ireland after a seven year hiatus – his last show being in Dublin in 2017.
One of the biggest and longest running events on the Irish music calendar, the Cork Jazz Festival attracts almost 100,000 people to the city, Douglas and Kinsale annually.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce Gregory Porter as our first headline act,” said Festival Director Mark Murphy.
“His talent is extraordinary and sets the bar as we create another stellar weekend line-up which will feature jazz greats and Irish and international musicians and emerging talent who are pushing the boundaries of the genre.
“We’re also again planning pop-up surprise events, late night parties, collaborations and brass bands marching through the city streets, so don’t miss out.”

Porter has just released his first-ever Christmas record, Christmas Wish – a tribute to the festive works of artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Dinah Washington and Nat King Cole. The LP, recorded between New York and London, also features three original tracks.
