The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival has announced their largest and most exciting lineup to date, with headline performances from iconic artists such as Gregory Porter, Kamasi Washington, Seun Kuti and Buena Vista All Stars. The newly revealed headliners will be joined by a host of thrilling acts, including West Africa’s iconic dance band Orchestra Baobab, Mali duo Amadou and Mariam and a heartwarming tribute to Alice Coltrane from harpist Alina Bzhezhinska and Brian Jackson.
Also slated to take the stage is the beloved Mary Coughlan - one of the greatest jazz and blues artists of this generation - alongside jazz trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, female-driven Les Amazones D’Afrique, the soulful Staples Jr. Singers and a swing set with Lukas Thomas and Una Healy. This year’s schedule will also include a series of master classes, podcasts and music lessons with jazz students from the Cork School of Music.
“This line-up will resonate worldwide and put us on par with the greatest jazz festivals internationally,” said festival director Mark Murphy. “Gregory Porter sold out two shows at the Cork Opera House pre-Christmas and is the biggest voice of jazz internationally. Kamasi Washington is an American jazz superstar, and the high-end Afro-Cuban jazz of the Buena Vista All Stars is as good as it gets for a spectacle. And we have more to announce!”
