Listen to the new track from Elliot Crampton – featuring strings composed and arranged by Fiachra Trench – below.
Following the release of his acclaimed debut solo single, 'Voice Of A Smoker', last year, Elliot Crampton has returned with a brand new track, 'Bold and Free'.
The new single features a string quartet, arranged and composed by Irish musician and composer Fiachra Trench, who has worked with the likes of Paul McCartney, Philip Lynott, Sinéad O'Connor, The Pogues and the Boomtown Rats.
In addition to his solo work, Elliot is also known as one-half of the duo Mute The TV, alongside his brother, Dylan.
"I record all of my music at home and for the most part play all the instruments myself," Elliot says. "I have recently started mixing my music myself as well which is a learning experience, but I love it and it has allowed me to work with other artists in that capacity too.
"With 'Bold and Free' I was fortunate enough to have Joe Furlong play the bass, he's an exceptionally talented musician and all-round lovely guy," he continues. "Also, very excitingly, Fiachra Trench composed and arranged the strings on this song. It blew my mind to work with Fiachra, he is the nicest man, was very kind to me and has worked with some of my musical heroes. It was also an extraordinary experience to watch the string quartet play the song as they were such competent musicians, it was mind blowing and I learned a lot from the experience.’’

The track – which finds the Greystones singer-songwriter putting a refreshing, contemporary spin to his long-established influences – further establishes him as a unique, and captivatingly polished, voice in Irish music.
