Duff McKagan Releases new song 'Tenderness' from forthcoming debut solo record produced by Shooter Jennings.
Guns n’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan has announced a new solo album and debuted a new single. ‘Tenderness’ is the first offering from McKagan’s long awaited solo debut, and was produced by Grammy winning country artist Shooter Jennings. It features lyrics that McKagan says are about “unity and peace,” rather than being “some damn politician or some other voice to add to what is already way too much noise.”
Of the collaboration with Shooter, McKagan said “fortune shone my way,” stating that “[he] has a brilliant mind, and a seemingly endless musical catalogue bouncing around in his head that he’s ready to tap into at any moment.” The two first began to work together in between Guns n’ Roses’ Not in this Lifetime… tour and the release of Jennings’ eponymous album Shooter. “The heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide I have experienced traveling this globe of ours,” says McKagan, “coerced these words into songs that tell my truth, and one that I hope will spread and help us all.”
The forthcoming album follows up McKagan’s New York Times Bestseller How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions), his 2015 debut book. He and Shooter Jennings have also announced two special shows in Philadelphia and Washington DC. Find the dates for those, as well as the song’s official lyric video below.
